Dr. Smolar is a board certified Otolaryngologist - Head & Neck Surgeon with a special interest in sleep medicine and sleep surgery.
He completed his surgical training with special emphasis in sleep surgery at the University of Texas - Houston Health Science Center and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Smolarz has extensive experience in corporate fiscal management and productivity matters. He completed his MBA at the University of Miami and owns, manages and advises for numerous corporations throughout the US.
Dr. Smolarz has a special interest in both sleep medicine and surgery. He performs procedures that include hyoid suspension, tongue base resection, uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, tonsillectomy, septoplasty, nasal stenosis repair and turbinate reduction. These all increase airway volume and patency and can alleviate Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Dr. Smolarz is Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, and the American Rhinologic Society. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Flying Physicians Association.
Dr. Smolarz is an instrument-rated, commercial, multiengine pilot with over 500 hours behind the yoke. He is an FAA Designated Aviation Medical Examiner. He has traveled the world and is fluent in Spanish. He is an avid crossfitter and is a white belt in Ju-Jitsu. And most importantly, he is a father to his son, Asher Drew, daughter Harper Ayden, his dog Ollie, a white Spinoni, as well as a husband of ten years to his wonderful wife, Kelli.
